About the Grant Programme
Within the scope of the “EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye Project” financed by the European Union, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and of which the Directorate of Climate Change is the end recipient, a grant of 15.114.913,23 Euros will be provided through the “EU-Türkiye Climate Change Grant Programme” (EU-TR CCGP) co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye. The end recipient of this grant programme is the Directorate of Climate Change, and the programme will be implemented by the General Directorate for EU and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
EU-TR CCGP aims to support local authorities such as municipalities, regional and provincial directorates, universities and research institutes, regional development agencies, as well as, community-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, chambers, and unions in Türkiye and EU, in their efforts to combat climate change by implementing adaptation and mitigation actions. This programme seeks to contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement and EU climate policies.
Objectives
The global objective of this programme is to improve the capacity of local entities to adapt to and mitigate climate change.
The specific objective is to enhance local climate change action planning and implementation through projects that focus on at least one of these areas:
—In line with the priorities of the existing national adaptation and mitigation action plans between 2024-2030,
—Promoting resilient and low-carbon cities,
—Implementing adaptation or mitigation actions based on existing national or local climate strategies.
