Women Empowerment and Equal Participation
While the segment of society that earns its livelihood from natural resources and is unable to respond to natural disasters is more exposed to the negative impacts of climate change, women in poverty face much greater risks and burdens from the impacts of climate change. The inequality is often accelerated by the unequal participation of women in decision-making processes and labor markets, and results in
the exclusion of women from climate-related policy-making practices.
Women’s involvement in the response to climate change is crucial due to their local knowledge and capacity in leadership at sustainable practices and brings about a higher level of readiness for the impacts of climate change. Hence, women empowerment and equal participation is one of the core values with which local climate change policies and projects should be incorporated.
Civil Engagement
Promoting systematic interaction with civil society is one of the core values of the project. The importance of civil society organizations, various groups and individuals within society in tackling the problems arising from climate change cannot be overstated. The project aims at fostering the exchange of diverse perspectives and the implementation of collective initiatives, and is designed to ensure the robust participation of all stakeholders of the society in decision-making processes pertaining to climate change. Employing workshops, training sessions, and seminars, it isaimed to harness community expertise and experience, thereby enhancing their involvement in local climate action.
Sustainable Development Goals
Local climate action, together with the strategies of sustainable development, enables communities to strengthen and take effective steps in combating climate change. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, universally endorsed by all United Nations Member States in 2015, delineates a collective framework for fostering global peace and prosperity for both present and future generations. Central to this agenda are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), representing a pressing call for concerted action by nations worldwide—whether developed or developing—in a collaborative global partnership. These goals underscore the imperative intertwining of efforts to eradicate poverty and other forms of deprivation with initiatives that enhance health and education, diminish inequality, and stimulate economic growth. While SDG 13 – Climate Action is the guiding goal for the project, all SDGs occupy a central role in shaping local climate actions and strategies.

Environment and Climate Change
The environment encompasses all fundamental living resources and conditions. In the face of negative impacts of climate change, the ecosystem confronts numerous hazards. The project endeavors to formulate comprehensive solutions by elucidating local environmental issues and their nexus with global challenges. Assuming that present initiatives will enhance environmental conditions for successive generations, the objective is to foster a more resilient and symbiotic alliance with nature. This can be pursued through active local engagement in climate actions that instill a sense of environmental responsibility and advocate sustainable practices.
Public-Private Sector Partnerships
As a fundamental tenet within the framework of the Project, the objective is to comprehensively address climate change through a collaborative endeavor between the public and private sectors. The amalgamation of resources, expertise, and innovative solutions from both sectors is deemed essential to collectively address climate change challenges at the local level. The public sector assumes a pivotal role in policy formulation, organization, and the promotion of environmental sustainability. The project endeavors to harmonize local climate actions with overarching policy frameworks through collaborationswith government agencies. The private sector’s support for technological innovation, technology and knowledge transfer, adoption of environmentally friendly business models, and its collaborative contributions are of paramount significance. It is anticipated that the project, through the collaborative synergy of the public and private sectors, will instigate actions not only at the local but also on a global scale.
